About Lewis Heritage & Lime Mortar
Lewis Heritage & Lime Mortar is a specialist conservation repointing firm dedicated to protecting historic masonry across Oxfordshire, Surrey and the Cotswolds. We work exclusively with traditional lime mortars, hand‑tooled methods and conservation‑grade standards to ensure every building retains its breathability, character and long‑term integrity. Our approach is built on precision, respect for original fabric and a deep understanding of how traditional buildings manage moisture. Every project begins with a detailed Heritage Survey, allowing us to assess the building fabric, identify moisture behaviour, analyse existing mortar and specify the correct conservation method before any work begins.
We never use cement, grinders or modern shortcuts. All raking‑out is carried out by hand, all mortars are matched to the building’s original composition, and every joint is finished using traditional techniques that allow the structure to move and breathe naturally. This ensures that every repair is sympathetic to the building’s age, materials and architectural history.
Our work spans listed buildings, period homes, Cotswold stone cottages and Victorian brick properties — each requiring its own tailored approach. Whether restoring a single elevation or carrying out full‑property repointing, the goal is always the same: to protect the building for the next generation through correct conservation practice.
If you’re planning conservation‑grade repointing or need expert guidance on moisture issues, you can request a Heritage Survey directly through our website.
